Ansel Adams Zone System for digital

When Ansel Adams and Fred Archer developed the Zone System in the 1930s, they were working with large-format film negatives and darkroom processes that allowed for meticulous control over exposure and development. We can exact similar control in the modern digital domain. Or can we?

Lens > Camera

Why Your Lens Matters More Than Your Camera Body for Image Quality When it comes to achieving pro-level image quality, many photographers are quick to focus on the camera body. But here's the truth: the lens is the real game-changer. While camera bodies evolve with faster processors, better autofocus, and more megapixels, the lens is what truly defines the clarity, sharpness, and overall look of your images. Here's why:

New Blog And Podcast

I've started a new podcast and blog about photography education called The HitchHiker's Guide To Photography. I'll be imparting the knowledge I've gained over the last four decades of taking pictures and trying to de-mystify some of the more technical points of photography like exposure, lighting, and working with clients. We'll talk about some business and marketing aspects as well in case you want to monetize your photographic skills as they improve. There is also a YouTube channel, but I'm still working on videos. They're coming soon. Hope you enjoy the blog and podcast and learn something along the way. Click Read More to check out the first blog!

Headshots: More than Just a Photo

Did you know that a professional headshot can make a big impact on your online presence and career opportunities?

In today's digital age, your online presence is just as important as your in-person one. It can be the first thing that potential employers, clients, or partners see when they come across your name, and it can shape their initial impressions of you. That's why a professional headshot can make such a big impact on your online presence and career opportunities. A professional headshot is a photograph of your head and shoulders, typically taken in a studio or outdoor setting. These types of photos are usually taken by a professional photographer and are intended for use on your professional website, social media profiles, and networking sites like LinkedIn. One of the benefits of a professional headshot is that it helps to build trust and credibility with others.

An Amazing Person And Her Special Project

Photography is an art, a visual art, but what good is a picture if you can't see it? Close your eyes for a moment and imagine that the darkness behind your eyelids is the only thing you will ever see again. That's where Molly lives and has since October of last year. She began losing her sight almost 5 years ago and had eleven surgeries to try to restore some of her ability to see, but to no avail. She was devastated her first christmas being completely unable to see the lights and the presents wrapped in colorful paper. But in January she rallied and decided she was not going to let her disability stop her. She began looking for a museum or art gallery where she could touch the art, a tactile experience for the visually impaired. But none existed. Molly decided that it was unacceptable and decided to create her own gallery for tactile and multi-sensory art. In April of this year she put on the very first Beyond Vision Art Gallery Experience in Dayton, and the second one is happening in October. By this time next year, Molly hopes to be opening a permanent galley for the visually impaired to experience and create multi-sensory art. She's a lot stronger than she ever gave herself credit for and Storm Falcon Studios is so proud to be a partner with Beyond Vision to help create this amazing new outlet for artists, blind and sighted, to show their work. Even without sight, Molly has a fantastic vision for the future. Visit her page and be a part of an artistic revelation at www.BeyondVisionArt.com

Do You Even Need A Headshot Since You Have A SelfiE

Does your headshot matter to a casting agent

Are you an actor or actress (do we still say actress?) with a CV that has a few small parts and limited experience on it? Then your headshot really does matter. If your experience doesn't convey what your capable of, then your picture should. A headshot that shows your look and a comp card that shows your range is the best way to grab an agents attention. Do your images show your passion?
