Does your headshot matter to a casting agent

June 2022

Are you an actor or actress (do we still say actress?) with a CV that has a few small parts and limited experience on it? Then your headshot really does matter. If your experience doesn't convey what your capable of, then your picture should. A headshot that shows your look and a comp card that shows your range is the best way to grab an agents attention. Do your images show your passion?

If you work in the performing arts, such as a movie/television or theater actor, you know it can be a precarious business. You constantly need to be improving your range, as well as communicating that range to producers and talent scouts.

Often, that communication comes through having the perfect headshot. First impressions are everything in the performing arts, and using a poor-quality or out-dated image can negatively affect your chances of getting a casting call. Your headshot is your brand, and an outstanding headshot is the easiest way to grab a casting director’s attention.

The best headshots express your true self to a producer or talent scout. This then helps them determine if you’re perfect for the role.

As a Peter Hurley HeadShot Crew member with years of experience as a portrait photographer, I understand how to connect with you and bring your inner expression out in an image that will project your personality to the viewer and help you further your acting career.
