Hi, I'm Paul, but most folks call me Hitch.
If you know me at all, you probably know that photography isn’t just a hobby—it's a lifelong passion. I’ve been behind the camera for as long as I can remember, and today, I’m the chief creator here at Storm Falcon Studios.
My photographic story started when I was about eight years old with a little Kodak Instamatic box camera in my hands. Now, for those of you who aren’t camera geeks, the Kodak Instamatic was a plastic, almost toy-like camera that used 126 cartridge film. Today it's a relic of the past, but for me, it was a gateway to a whole new world. My dad gave me the camera, and with his guidance, I didn’t just learn how to shoot, I learned how to develop my own film and make prints. Those moments in the darkroom with him, watching images slowly appear on paper, were pure magic. It wasn’t just about photography it was about spending time together, learning something new, and creating something tangible and beautiful from a roll of film.
Dad’s been gone for almost 15 years now, but every time I pick up a camera, I feel like he’s right there with me, helping me frame the shot, encouraging me to capture the moment. Photography keeps me connected to him, and it’s one of the reasons I started Storm Falcon Studios. I wanted to share that magic with others, to teach people how to see the world through a lens and find joy in the art of photography.
I’m excited to announce that I’m diving into a few new projects. I’ve launched a podcast, and soon, there will be a YouTube channel full of tutorials, behind-the-scenes looks, and more. Plus, I’m hosting in-person workshops, where we can get together and explore the art of photography up close and personal. Whether you’re just starting out or you’ve been shooting for years, there’s something here for everyone.
Photography has been so much more than just a way to capture images for me—it’s been a source of joy, therapy, and healing. It’s helped me navigate the ups and downs of life, and it’s been a constant companion through the sadness, the anxieties, and all those little worries that we all face from time to time. When you create something beautiful with your camera, it’s not just about the end result it’s about the process, the experience, and the happiness it can bring—not just to you, but to the world.
Besides photography, I'm a Sci-Fi fan, I enjoy reading as well as writing sci-fi stories (I have a book on Amazon). I'm a Trekkie at heart, but can quote Star Wars line by line and have been watching Dr. Who since the 80's. I have spent many years working in broadcast media and producing the Long Strange Trip Podcast. I loves to travel as much as possible and find things to photograph I've never seen before. I'll be taking some of you along on my photographic adventures soon.
